ABOUT IT
Grupo Fleury and Merck's Life Science division have developed a partnership for the reverse logistics of components from the Milli-Q® water purification system. The project started at the Grupo Fleury´s Operational Technical Center in São Paulo and aims to recycle plastics and activated carbon from parts discarded during maintenance of the purification system's filters. The project is ongoing and was implemented in January 2023.
Results and Objectives
The main goal in the first year was to recycle approximately 250 kilos of plastic and reuse it in the production of sewage pipes and/or conduits, plus 75 kilos of activated carbon as an alternative fuel for the cement industry. To date, 347 kg of waste have been reprocessed, exceeding the company's initial target. Grupo Fleury also disposes of around 930 m3 of ordinary waste per year.
