ABOUT IT

The project for the management and conservation of stingless bees in the Central and North Coasts of Rio Grande do Sul was developed by CPFL in partnership with Ação Nascente Maquiné (ANAMA), as a social counterpart to an investment with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), for the implementation of a wind farm complex in the municipality of Palmares do Sul, on the south coast of Rio Grande do Sul. The main aim of the project was to encourage the breeding, management and conservation of meliponines in the Central and North Coasts of Rio Grande do Sul as a sustainable production alternative in close relation to the remaining local ecosystems.

Results and Objectives

  • Restoration of degraded areas and preservation of forested areas.  
  • A total of 55 farmers were trained and 30 were expected to be trained.  
  • A total of 33 meliponariums were installed. 
  • 121 pieces of equipment and supplies were donated.
