Energy recovery from by-products of production processes
ABOUT IT
Energy recovery from by-products (wood waste) generated in the production processes of the São Carlos/SP and Prata/MG industrial plants. These by-products are transformed into briquettes to be sent to the boilers at the industrial plants, generating energy for the production processes themselves.
This promotes the energy recovery from these by-products, which if left untreated would become waste.
Results and Objectives
Considering the end of fiscal year 2022/23, 81% of the energy demand of the São Carlos and Prata plants was supplied by energy generated internally through boiler biomass. The rest comes from the purchase of electricity from the free energy market with a guarantee of renewable origin, through I-RECs (International Renewable Energy Certificates).
