ABOUT IT
CPFL Energia's project seeks to support the restoration of environmental conditions in line with the cultural traditions of the Mbya Guarani ethnic group in two communities on the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul: Nhu Porã village (Torres - RS) and Kuaray Rexë village (Osório - RS). The project aims to improve the reality of the community due to the scarcity of native forest and degraded soil in the region, making indigenous forest management impossible. Thus, the project included workshops, agroforestry planting, nurseries and agriculture strengthening. The families are low-income, and the structure and training developed are tools for future livelihoods in these communities.
Results and Objectives
Starting in 2021 and ending in 2023, the project reached 60 families directly and another 36 families indirectly through workshops, agroforestry planting, nurseries and agriculture strengthening. More than 9 hectares of seedlings of various species were planted on the indigenous lands, 54 agroforestry yards were set up to subsidize the communities, a nursery-shed complex was built and a socio-environmental diagnosis of the villages was carried out.
