ABOUT IT
The project consists of setting up three hectares of an agroforestry system (SAF) in the Xerente indigenous community. It will make it possible to guarantee the capacity to carry out food production activities based on agro-ecological practices, the recovery of degraded areas, water and food security, and the use of alternative and sustainable energy.
Results and Objectives
The agroforestry system will produce 11,000 kg of food, using a solar-powered irrigation system and serving 30 families. An individual micro-enterprise will be set up as a way of encouraging entrepreneurship, both for the sale of surplus agricultural production, but also for the providing of services in the recovery of areas as well as the trade and sale of seedlings, seeds and artisan crafts.
By the end of 2023, the project should deliver:
1- Agroforestry systems implemented on three hectares;
2- Teaching 50 students from the training course certified by the IFTO Palmas Campus;
3- Two irrigation systems;
4- Two photovoltaic energy systems with 550 W solar panels each;
5- Two fenced areas of 1.5 hectares.
