data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Barra Limpa project started in 2017 with the purpose of diagnosing and mitigating impacts associated with the release of sewage in the Jacarepagu\u00e1 lagoon complex in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p><p>The region of influence of the complex has been extensively occupied over the last few decades, with sewage and effluents being continuously released directly into the water bodies that are in contact with the lagoon complex and ultimately reach the Barra da Tijuca beach.<\/p><p>The project has a multidisciplinary team consisting of Forestry, Environmental, Agricultural, Chemical and Civil Engineers, Lawyers, Administrators, Biologists, among others. An analysis of environmental and operational data from the current collection and treatment system was conducted, making it possible to establish criteria for prioritizing environmental remediation actions.<\/p><p>The diagnosis and conceptual strategy were presented at a public hearing convened by the Public Prosecution Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro on 09\/20\/2018, at the community council of Barra da Tijuca with the participation of civil society representatives. This hearing resulted in the signature of the Term of Conduct Adjustment by the utility company \u2013 at the time (CEDAE) \u2013 and the Public Prosecution Office of Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the notification of condominiums not connected to the current network and the recovery of the entire pumping structure in the region.<\/p><p>In addition to these professionals, residents of Barra da Tijuca also participated and collaborated, seeking to provide ample visibility to illegal occurrences that prevent local society and tourists from taking advantage of the public good, thus enforcing the legislation in force for the sanitation sector.<\/p><p><strong>The project is still being executed<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d006ad7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d006ad7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Results<\/strong><br \/><br \/>The TAC (Terms of Adjustment of Conduct) allowed for the prioritization of areas already covered by sewage collection networks and pumping stations. The Marapendi lagoon, with an approximate area of 300 hectares, will be the biggest beneficiary in the short term.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>The Barra Limpa project contributed to understanding the problem of untreated effluent discharge into the Barra da Tijuca lagoon system (Rio de Janeiro), seeking to identify potential solutions to improve the water quality of the complex, which has an average
