The company's project is aimed at energy efficiency, the systematic replacement of metal vapor lamps with light bulbs Emitting Diode (LED - Light Emitting Diode) throughout the airport site. The action began in 2015 and should be completed by 2025, with a total of approximately 30,000 light bulbs replaced. The replaced metal vapor lamps are disposed of in a mercury decontamination and recovery process, as they are hazardous waste. LED bulbs, on the other hand, are sent as electronic waste for recycling and reuse, in accordance with Viracopos International Airport's Solid Waste Management Plan (PGRS). 

Results and Objectives

  • Promote a reduction or optimization in the energy consumption of the company's businesses and operations; 
  • Is it possible reduce CO2 emissions by 67% related to this project;  
  • They were 24,398 metal vapor lamps replaced by 12,960 LED lampsresulting in a reduction of approximately 70% in energy consumption.

Savings forecast for the period 2024 and 2025:
2024 - 67 tCO2;
2025 - 26.3 tCO2.
