ABOUT IT
The project Reuse of Environmental Liabilities in the Agricultural Fertilization Production Chain (Sulfur Sludge) represents a Mosaic Fertilizers' ongoing action for the benefit of sustainability and the circular economy.
The project's sulfur sludge, previously considered a environmental liability generated during the process of sulfur filtration, it became reused as an agricultural input in fertilizer production.
This initiative promotes integration between industrial and agricultural sectors, reduces the volume of waste destined for landfills and transforms industrial waste into a commercially valuable byproduct.. The result is a cleaner and more efficient production process, aligned with best practices of waste management and material reuse.
Results and Objectives
Reduce the generation and disposal of industrial waste.;
Reusing sulfur sludge as an agricultural input in fertilizer production;
Strengthening the circular economy, connecting industrial and agricultural processes;
Minimize environmental impacts associated with the disposal of the material;
Promoting operational efficiency and sustainability. in the production chain;
Contribute to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) e SDG 15 (Life on Land).
Transformation of sulfur sludge into agricultural input., eliminating the environmental liability;
Approximately 15,000 tons per year are reused. as a commercialized byproduct;
100% sustainable utilization of the material;
Eliminating the need for landfill disposal or complex treatment;
Effective integration between industry and agriculture, reinforcing the circular economy;
No significant additional cost., because the Business development was conducted internally. by the Mosaic team.
