ABOUT IT

The main purpose of the “Positive Forest” project includes promoting the restoration, protection and responsible management of forests in the fight against climate change. 

 

With these grounds, in 2021, a partnership was entered with the World Wildlife Fund- WWF in a commitment for HP to invest in actions to restore and protect forests around the world in areas equivalent to 380,000 hectares by 2030. In Brazil, in 2021, 150 hectares were restored in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, in the regions of Alto Paraná, Serra do Mar and Mogi Guaçu/Mantiqueira, through local partnerships and micro-initiatives with Science-Based Targets – SBT  Science-Based Targets – SBT and within the scope of the partnership.  

 

The company also entered a partnership with Conservação Internacional (CI) to restore the Area of Endemism of Belém and aims to restore 70 hectares by planting over 48,000 native trees. The area of Endemism in Belém is one of the most biodiverse areas in the Amazon forest (with Brazil nuts, Andiroba, Ingá, Cacau, Cupuaçu and Ipê), in addition to being one of the most threatened, with about 70% of forests deforested. 

 

The project carries external certification - FSC Seal and Science-Based Target 

Results and Objectives

150 hectares restored in the Atlantic Forest 

In the context of the partnership with CI, more than 60 families are being directly impacted and have support and tools to implement restoration systems for degraded areas.
