ABOUT IT
The purpose of the project isto stop sending contaminated waste to landfills. The waste consists of Lubricant Oil Filters and the sustainable process is carried out in partnership with Abrafiltros through the ‘Descarte Consciente’ program.
After being recovered at collection points, the material has its components sorted and washed. The extracted metal is sent to steel mills and the filter elements are co-processed in cement plants for power generation or are used in the composition of cement itself. The contaminated oil, on the other hand, is sent to a refining station, without directly return to the filter chain..
The project is still being executed
The project meets local laws and regulations in terms of contaminated waste handling.
Results and Objectives
In 2021, 33,111 lubricating oil filters were collected for recycling and 23.642were already collected by August 2022. The amount corresponds to exactly 37,910 kilograms of used filters sent for reuse since the start of the program.
