The project Life Certificate, The Hospital Moinhos de Vento associates each birth with a concrete action for environmental preservation: the planting of a native tree of the Atlantic Forest in the Banhado Grande Environmental Protection Area (RS). For each baby born at the hospital, the family receives one. certificate linked to planting, promoting an emotional connection with sustainability.

The project integrates the hospital's ESG strategy, which is ISO 14001 certified and a participant in the GHG Protocol, and contributes to SDGs 13, 15, 11 and 17, in addition to supporting the campaign. Race to Zero. This is an unprecedented initiative in the health sector, combining hospital care, native reforestation, and environmental education, using replicable methodology, technical reports, and traceable QR codes.

Results and Objectives

Objectives

  • Offsetting carbon emissions through the continuous planting of native trees in environmental preservation areas.

  • Connecting families to the concepts of sustainability from birth.

  • To promote environmental education and engagement from the community and employees.

  • Regenerating native biomes, such as the Atlantic Forest and wetlands.

  • Strengthen partnerships with companies and private investors for actions with a positive environmental impact.

Expected Results

  • Planting of 20,000 native trees until October 2027

  • Estimated removal of 400 tons of CO₂ of the atmosphere

  • Delivery of 20,000 Certificates of Life to the families of newborns

  • Engagement of 13 partner companies

  • Annual inclusion of approximately 4,000 new seedlings, with technical maintenance and semi-annual monitoring.

  • Organizing symbolic events with families and the community, strengthening emotional bonds and promoting environmental education.

  • Contribution to the regeneration of biodiversity and protection of wetlands and riparian forests.
