Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

The project Eco-barriers They are composed of floating plastic materials installed in strategic locations along rivers, which retain a significant amount of waste discarded in these environments.

These materials are removed from the water and sent to recycling cooperatives, where they undergo sorting to assess what can be recycled or sent to landfills. All collected waste is meticulously accounted for in the traceability system developed by Trashin, according to its volume and type (PET bottles, aluminum cans, electronics, etc.).

Currently, the project has Eco-barriers operating in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil, in the cities of Porto Alegre/RS, Mafra/SC, Curitiba/PR, Praia Grande/SP, São Sebastião/SP and Goiânia/GO.

Results and Objectives

To date, the Ecobarriers They removed 1,040.12 kg of waste from Brazilian rivers., This is equivalent to 2.3 1,000-liter waste containers. Among the collected waste are organic materials and plastics, with paper, metal, glass, and electronic products being the most common. The project has been under development since 2016 and aims to expand its operation nationally and multiply its impact.
