ABOUT IT
The project is derived from Espírito Santo State Program More Gas, led by State Secretariat for Development of Espírito Santo in partnership with public and private entities.
The program mapped out and implemented actions to encourage the use of natural gas and biomethane, focusing on Decarbonization of industry and improvement of air quality.. Among the main measures:
Reduction of the ICMS tax rate on natural gas;
Expansion of natural gas, biogas, biomethane and hydrogen infrastructure;
Creation of new industrial tariff, making gas distribution more competitive and encouraging the displacement of more polluting fossil fuels.
The program has already had a direct impact on industrial consumption, promoting coal reduction and consequently, avoiding CO₂ emissions.
Results and Objectives
Promoting industrial decarbonization in the Holy Spirit.
Encourage the use of natural gas and biomethane. as clean and viable alternatives.
Reduce CO₂ emissions, contributing to state climate goals.
To offer competitiveness to the industrial sector., replacing polluting fuels with natural gas.
Supporting the development of clean energy infrastructure, including biomethane and hydrogen.
14 million m³ of natural gas consumed via incentive, representing 25% of industrial consumption during that period.
Displacement of 18,000 tons of coal. in August 2025.
Avoiding 20,000 tons of CO₂ in a single month (equivalent to removing all vehicles from Vitória).
Goal by 2030: reduction of 900 thousand tons of CO₂ in the state, with a progressive increase in biomethane injection.
Initial impulse of 15,000 m³/day of biomethane, with an expansion target until 380,000 m³/day in 2034 and potential of 1.8 million m³/day.
