ABOUT IT
O Energy Recovery Project from Piaçava Coconut, developed by Binatural, aims to utilize the Piaçava coconut — surplus residue from the production of this fiber — as an alternative biomass source. for the boiler heating at the company's industrial unit, located in Simões Filho (BA).
The initiative promotes energy innovation, environmental sustainability e positive social impact, by transforming a previously discarded waste product into a renewable source of thermal energy, replacing the use of eucalyptus firewood.
The project is perennial, i.e, no completion deadline, being continuously incorporated into the company's production process. The action is carried out in partnership with a local cooperative, which adopts sustainable management practices and of environmental commitment, directly benefiting 100 farming families in the region and strengthening the circular economy in the state of Bahia.
Results and Objectives
To promote the diversification of the energy matrix. from the industrial unit, focusing on clean and renewable sources;
Reduce and optimize energy consumption. in Binatural's industrial operations;
Replace eucalyptus firewood put coconut biomass from piaçava, contributing to the preservation of forested areas from the Atlantic Forest;
Make use of organic waste which would previously have been discarded, thus preventing waste and reducing environmental impact;
Generating new clean energy alternatives with potential for future commercialization;
To foster the local economy and income generation. for family farmers;
Strengthen the circular economy and regional bioeconomy, integrating agricultural waste into the sustainable energy chain.
Complete replacement of eucalyptus firewood. for the coconut biomass from piaçava, reducing pressure on planted and native forests;
Optimizing boiler productivity, with greater thermal efficiency e rapid increase in temperature and pressure, thanks to high calorific value of piaçava coconut;
It prevents the waste of approximately 200 tons of waste per year., which are then reused as an energy input;
Generating direct income for 100 farming families., through the collection, processing and supply of coconuts;
Strengthening the circular economy and the valorization of agricultural waste in the state of Bahia;
Integration with the operation of the biodiesel plant in Simões Filho (BA), which in In 2025, it produced 123 million liters of biodiesel., reinforcing Binatural's commitment to energy transition and the sustainable production of biofuels.
