ABOUT IT
The project's Irani Paper and Packaging SA. It is a national benchmark in sustainability and low-carbon practices. The company was A pioneer in Brazil and Latin America in the implementation of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects., a mechanism created by Kyoto Protocol and administered by the UN.
These projects allow us to generate carbon credits (CERs) starting from the effective reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, representing a climate mitigation tool and a sustainable source of revenue.
Irani integrates the climate change in your Sustainability Policy and in their ESG Commitments 2030, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/UN). Among the goals adopted are:
Eliminate the sending of non-hazardous waste to landfills;
To achieve 100% of energy from renewable sources;
Increase the positive balance between removals and emissions of GHGs in 20%;
Reduce specific water consumption by 30%.
The company has maintained the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and it was first in Brazil to certify your inventory according to the standard ISO 14064 (2006), being recognized as Positive Carbon, because their forests capture more CO₂ than their operations emit.
The first Brazilian company in the paper and pulp sector (and the second in the world) to register a CDM project with the UN.
Generation of Renewable electricity from biomass, replacing fossil fuels.
Third credit period valid until 2025.
