The WHEEL is a Innovative door-to-door selective waste collection model, which combines:
Social mobilization and digital engagement for scheduling and traceability;
Efficient micrologistics using light vehicles (tuk-tuks) to optimize routes and reduce emissions;
Inclusion and professionalization of waste picker cooperatives, strengthening value chains for recyclables;
Scalability objectiveTo become a municipal public policy for selective waste collection.
Results and Objectives
Specific objectives:
Testing micrologistics with tuk-tuk vehicles and evaluating scalability;
Measuring citizen engagement and logistical efficiency;
Assess user profile and communication suitability;
Strengthen cooperatives and professionalize waste pickers;
To map the interest of independent waste pickers in regulation;
To ensure traceability and circularity of materials.
Collection and sorting: >5.5 tons of recyclables processed by the partner cooperative;
Emissions reduction: >30% of CO₂e compared to conventional vehicles;
Optimized routes: Distance ≤6 km, average time ≤90 minutes;
Income of cooperative members: +20% average increase;
Training: 90% of cooperative members in safety training;
Member satisfaction: Ergonomics ≥8.5 and overall satisfaction ≥8;
User engagement: 250 participants, average of 7.5 kg of waste delivered per person, loyalty +60%;
Coverage target: 50 independent waste pickers served, 100% traceability, waste ≤5%.
