ABOUT IT

The project's RN+CLEAN It's a campaign of education and socio-environmental responsibility launched in June 2021, with the objective of To promote the proper disposal and recycling of electronic waste (e-waste) throughout the state of Rio Grande do Norte..
The project seeks to raise awareness and mobilize the population for the environmental impacts of e-waste, especially on the water resources, and acts as a catalyst for a circular economy culture and reverse logistics.
It is executed by means of institutional partnerships between CAERN, IDEMA, Natal Reciclagem and Circulare, with the support of the State Government and the participation of various public and private bodies. Currently, it has 29 Voluntary Delivery Points (VDPs) in 6 municipalities and collection drives with 30 city halls, ensuring coverage in all regions of the state.

Results and Objectives

Objectives:

Environmental:

  • To mitigate health and environmental risks caused by the toxic components of electronic waste.

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Preserve water and forest resources.

  • To promote socio-environmental education for children, youth, and adults.

Economic:

  • Reduce the need for extraction of virgin raw materials.

  • To create opportunities for reusing recyclable materials.

  • Supporting the recycling chain as a driver of sustainable development in the state.

Results achieved:

  • More than 200 tons of e-waste collected between June 2021 and July 2025, exceeding the initial goal of 150 tons.

  • 300,000 kg of CO₂ avoided in the atmosphere.

  • Saving 150 million liters of water..

  • Preservation equivalent to approximately 70,000 trees.

  • 70 schools and 20,000 students mobilized in educational games.

  • 29 Voluntary Delivery Points (VDPs) assets in 6 municipalities.

  • 30 municipal governments engaged, ensuring reach in all regions.

  • Engagement of 25 Municipal Committees for Environmental Education and strategic institutions such as SEBRAE, OAB, Universities and public authorities.

Expected results:

  • To achieve 300 tons of e-waste properly disposed of by December 2025.

  • Expand the voluntary drop-off points and strengthen existing partnerships.

  • Continue to mobilization of the society of Rio Grande do Norte In support of the circular economy and the preservation of water resources.

Term: Permanent project, in continuous expansion; target of 300 tons of e-waste by December 2025.
