Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

With the purpose of reduce dependence on the conventional energy matrix and strengthen its commitment to sustainability, Unimar Maritime Agencies formed a partnership with Sun Mobi for the supply of clean and renewable solar energy at its headquarters located in Santos (SP).

Energy is generated by Sun Mobi solar power plant, located in Araçoiaba da Serra (SP), which produces approximately 150 MWh/year — sufficient volume to supply 41 residences during the same period. This generation avoids the emission of approximately 12 tons of CO₂ per year, which is equivalent to the emissions of a car traveling 48,000 kilometers.

The energy generated is injected into the CPFL Piratininga distribution network, and Unimar receives energy credits which significantly reduce electricity costs.
The project also included installation of smart sensors of consumption, allowing real-time monitoring and identifying opportunities for savings. Already in first month of operation, a 10% reduction in energy consumption.

This initiative is part of Unimar's ongoing strategy of integration of sustainable practices, which already includes actions such rainwater reuse, recycling campaigns e ISO 14001 certification.

Results and Objectives

Project Objectives

• Reduce dependence on the traditional energy matrix and operational costs related to electricity.
• Expand the use of fonts renewable and with low environmental impact.
• Contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
• Implement a intelligent energy monitoring system, promoting efficiency and reducing waste.
• Reinforce the Unimar's commitment to the ESG agenda and SDG 13 – Climate Action.
• To raise awareness among employees and partners about the importance of the energy transition and responsible consumption.

Results and Impacts

Environmental:
• Generation of 150 MWh/year of clean energy, originating from a solar source (100%).
Estimated reduction of 11.1 to 12 tons of CO₂ per year., equivalent to the annual consumption of 41 households.
• Complete replacement of conventional electricity grid energy by 100% renewable energy.
• Reducing the use of non-renewable natural resources.

Operational and Economic:
Reduction of 10% in electricity consumption already in the first month after implementation.
• Obtaining energy credits on your electricity bill, reducing fixed electricity costs.
• Adoption of real-time monitoring sensors, improving energy management and operational efficiency.
