ABOUT IT
The project's Binatural unit in Bahia, located in Simões Filho, in Salvador Metropolitan Region, it is the first manufacturing unit in Brazil operating 100% with biodiesel in their generators.
The complex includes three generator sets from BRG Generators, equipped with Volvo Penta engines, which operate exclusively with biodiesel produced by the industry itself.
Results and Objectives
Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions: The use of biodiesel can reduce emissions by up to 90% CO₂ emissions compared to fossil diesel, contributing directly to compliance with Brazil's NDC in the Paris Agreement (goal to reduce emissions by up to 67% in a decade).
Strengthening the circular economy: The generators are fueled by biodiesel produced internally by Binatural, closing the production cycle and reducing waste.
Diversify energy sources: the project expands the use of clean and renewable energy in the company's operations.
Generating new energy alternatives: the model opens up possibilities for clean energy trading to third parties.
Encouraging the use of renewable raw materials., like the UCO (used cooking oil), which prevents the contamination of rivers and seas.
Generating income for over 300,000 family farmers., strengthening the biofuel supply chain and positively impacting food production.
Reducing and optimizing energy consumption in industrial operations.
The project is perennial and it is in operation since 2022, with no end date planned.
Before becoming operational at the power plant, the generators underwent... 2,000 hours of continuous testing, consuming 98,000 liters of biodiesel, which resulted in a reduction of 305 tons of GHG emissions.
