Circular Project

Adium S/A

ABOUT IT

The Project seeks to expand the use of more sustainable waste management techniques, which generate less waste and promote the concept of the circular economy within our operations.

One of the goals to be pursued with this project is the increase of the recycling rate in our production processes, through the adoption of cleaner methodologies for waste destruction, such as co-processing, instead of incinerating parts of our pharmaceutical ingredients, with the resulting benefits including the definitive, technical and environmentally safe elimination of waste and the replacement of non-renewable energy resources

Results and Objectives

The first stage increased the material circularity index by 80% with the adoption of co-processing, that is, the volume of recycled waste divided by the total volume of waste generated.

In this first stage of the project, the volume of incinerated waste was reduced by 47%; over 30 tons of waste were no longer incinerated and, consequently, about 9 tons of ash / slag (*) were no longer disposed of in landfills.
(*) considering that 1 ton of incinerated waste generates around 300 kg of slag.
