ABOUT IT
To reduce emissions in the manufacture of ethylene oxide, the gases produced are sold and used as raw materials in other production processes. From January to June 2023, the Camaçari (BA) unit sold 15,019 tons of CO2 to partner White Martins. The emissions avoided by using waste gases represent a reduction of 73.84% of the total emissions generated in the manufacture of ethylene oxide at the Camaçari unit.
To reduce emissions in ethylene oxide manufacturing, in 2022, from April to December, Camaçari sold 29,580 tons of CO2. In the same period Mauá (SP) sold 4,393 tons.
Results and Objectives
Discussions are underway with beverage companies and for the production of new chemical products from CO2. Oxiteno/Indorama's goal is to reduce the intensity of emissions per ton produced by 25% by 2030 (base year 2019). An important step towards achieving this goal was taken in 2021, with the approval of the company's Climate Change Strategy and the definition of actions for the decarbonization of operations. We also reinforced our commitment to the issue by joining the UN's Net Zero Ambition Program.
