Brasil Pelo Meio Ambiente

ABOUT IT

Eureciclo, in partnership with Braskem, is developing an unprecedented study aimed at recognizing recycling as one of the main tools for national decarbonization. The companies believe that the project will drive the construction of public policies with socio-economic and tax incentives to increase recycling rates in Brazil.

As justification, Eureciclo presents data such as the fact that, in 2022, Brazil was responsible for generating more than 81.8 million tons of solid urban waste. As a result, each Brazilian produced an average of 1.043 kg of waste per day, according to data from the Solid Waste Panorama of the Brazilian Association of Public Cleaning and Special Waste Companies - Abrelpe.

In addition, the country emitted 2.42 billion gross tons of CO2 equivalent in 2021, an increase of 12.2% compared to 2020 (2.16 billion tons), according to a survey by the Climate Observatory's SEEG (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimates System).

Results and Objectives

With the project, Eureciclo intends to generate new knowledge about the need to refine, expand, enhance the recycling value chain in Brazil and worldwide, focusing on climate mitigation and decarbonization. The company also plans to disseminate the results of the study at technical and scientific events with national and international repercussions.
