Brasil Pelo Meio Ambiente

ABOUT IT

The "Recycling fiber optic cables" project run by OSCIP Trilhos aims to ensure the correct handling of these materials, which are normally discarded in landfills. It has developed a technique in conjunction with a company that produces special mills in which the cables are crushed to form sand. The company then added a specific catalyst to this material, creating a material that can be used in construction. Through the startup "Eco Visão", the material will be processed and then marketed in Brazil and abroad through RR soluções Buzines.

Results and Objectives

  • Reduce 50% of waste generated and sent to the landfill or other unsustainable means by 2025.
  • Complete the project by 2029, recycling 95% of waste and creating materials that can be used in affordable housing.
