Brasil Pelo Meio Ambiente

ABOUT IT

The "Reflora CBA" project aims to reforest degraded areas in legal reserves (RL) or permanent protection areas (APP) on small farmers' properties. The project provides seedlings, technical training and planting so that small rural landowners can reforest their land. The project has a partnership with the Votorantim Institute, which is responsible for managing, prospecting and providing technical training to landowners, and Reservas Votorantim, which supplies the seedlings, provides training and carries out the planting.

Results and Objectives

  • The project aims to achieve an area of 200 hectares of reforestation, in addition to complying with the legal obligations of each location, with the prospect of expansion.
  • There were 21,150 seedlings planted in all the participating cities and more than 12 hectares restored in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais by 2022, equivalent to 12 soccer pitches.
  • In 2023, the project already has 87 rural landowners registered, totaling 523 hectares.
