Results and Objectives
In 2020, Dow signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Atlas Renewable Energy, which guarantees the supply of solar energy to the Aratu industrial complex in Bahia, Brazil, from January 2021.Today, the unit consumes around 80% of its energy from renewable sources and will reach 100% from 2024.
In 2021, the company signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Casa dos Ventos for the purchase of wind energy to supply 75% of the factory's demand from the unit located in Cabangu, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with supply scheduled to begin in 2024. The agreement also provides for the possibility of financial investment in the wind farm for self-generation of energy in the future.
In addition, as of 2021, the company has been using 100% renewable electricity in five units in Brazil, including the Latin America Inspiration Center, a collaboration and innovation hub for Latin America, located in Jundiaí, and the factories in Jacareí, Hortolândia, Jundiaí and Matarandiba island.
Scheduled for completion in December 2024, the project will result in the reduction of approximately 100,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.
