ABOUT IT
Since 2011, the project has sought to prevent rubber waste (vulcanized and unvulcanized) from being sent to industrial landfills. This initiative promotes the circular economy since waste previously destined for landfill returns to the production chain through the manufacture of new rubber parts and artifacts.
To this end, new technologies, new types of molds, new production parameters and a series of other actions have been implemented which have led to a significant reduction in waste generation. New alternatives have been developed, such as the reuse of non-vulcanized waste and incentives for reuse work.
Finally, a partner active in the recycling sector was found to dispose of the remaining waste from the production process. Technical meetings, audits, sample analysis and adaptations were made to the manufacturing process. Antônio Teixeira, Quality Manager for the Gravataí operation, who has been with Dana for 15 years, points out that there was a common goal between the two companies, which resulted in a partnership that is motivating the employees of both companies and promises even more positive results. In this win-win process, it's the planet that wins the most
