Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

In 2021, an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETE) was built and inaugurated for the central Operational Technical Center (NTO), where the Group's largest volume of clinical analysis tests are processed, and thus the Group's largest effluent-producing unit.

As of October 2021, the fully automated installation will guarantee the reuse of water at the Group's administrative headquarters in Brasília, thereby reducing the environmental impact of the company's activities. The inaugurated WWTP has enabled the reuse of water and the treatment of effluents generated by the technical area and since it began operating, the plant has improved Grupo Sabin's environmental indicators.

With the new equipment, the water resources used in the processing of clinical analysis tests, from the samples received at the NTO in Brasília, are now treated and directed towards watering the gardens and flushing toilets at the administrative headquarters in Brasília.

The project contributes to strengthening SDG 6 and helps to increase the availability of water in the reservoirs that supply the entire federal capital.

Results and Objectives

Results achieved:

100% of the water used in the production process is reused;
Reduction of 22.8% in total water consumption since the implementation of the WWTP, compared to the previous period;
Reduction of 26.5 % in water consumption/per exam (use relative to September 2022 compared to September 2021);
Total effluent treated and reused at the company's administrative headquarters in Brasilia: 3,128,000 m3/year
