100% ethanol-powered fleet

Atlas Schindler

ABOUT IT

With the purpose of mitigating GHG emissions from the 969 vehicles in its own fleet dedicated to building service technicians, who carry out both preventive and emergency maintenance, the project sought to ensure the transition into 100% ethanol-powered vehicles, regardless of fuel prices in the region.

Through changes in internal guidelines referring to fuel allowances and the reimbursement system, all cars in the company's fleet were then fueled with ethanol. In parallel with the process, internal awareness and engagement campaigns were also structured for the employees' own vehicles, using a gamification strategy and awards.

Through a hired application based on Science Based Targets (SBT)and using the calculation tool of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), Atlas Schindler will continue to monitor the mileage of each vehicle in its own fleet and the reduction in emissions from its fuel substitution.

The implementation of the project has been completed and the project will be maintained..

The project is part of a net-zero initiative by the company, with a deadline set for 2040.
