ABOUT IT

The project consisted of implementation of a rainwater harvesting system node CEAC – Center for Environmental Education and Citizenship to reduce the consumption of drinking water, intended for:

  • Toilets in bathrooms;

  • Irrigation of vegetables and gardens.

The system includes:

  1. Gutters on the roof of the shed to collect rainwater;

  2. Reservoir with capacity of 10,000 L;

  3. Pump for directing accumulated water to bathrooms and irrigation areas.

Before implementation, the average monthly consumption of drinking water was... 16,000 L.

Results and Objectives

Objectives

  • Reduce the consumption of drinking water;

  • Reusing local water resources;

  • Promoting sustainable practices at CEAC;

  • To promote environmental education and citizenship.

Results Achieved

  • Reducing drinking water consumption: 62,5%;

  • The accumulated rainwater began to be used entirely in the toilets and for irrigation;

  • Direct contribution to the circular economy and efficient use of water resources.
