Permeating all of the Carrefour Group's businesses, the sustainability agenda has been structured around three main areas of action: Fighting hunger and inequality, Inclusion and diversity, and Protecting the planet and biodiversity.
In the pillar of protecting the planet and biodiversity, the Group is committed to the decarbonization agenda, aiming to follow the path of a low-carbon economy, with the aim of reducing Scope 1 (direct emissions) and 2 (electricity procurement) CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and by 70% by 2040, and Scope 3 (indirect emissions) by 32% by 2030, considering the base year of 2019. These targets are based on science and aligned with the commitment of the Paris Agreement.
The Carrefour group has 6 stores with electric car chargers and 14 stores with solar panels installed, which have the capacity to generate around 9500 Mw/h per year. Energy efficiency projects not only reduce the cost of operations related to energy consumption, but also reduce dependence on the Grid and cost variations.
