O FedEx Uniform Recycling Program It is an initiative developed by FedEx in Brazil since 2015, with the objective of reusing old employee uniforms, prolong the life cycle of tissues e reduce the generation of textile waste. The project converts clothing items into blankets, which are intended for social welfare and animal protection institutions.
The action is part of the global program. FedEx Cares, aimed at community engagement through volunteer activities, donations and logistical support
Results and Objectives
Reusing out-of-use uniforms, allocating the fabrics for transformation into new products.
Reduce the volume of textile waste. sent to landfills, aligning with National Solid Waste Policy.
Promoting the circular economy In the textile sector, this extends the lifespan of materials.
Serving social and animal protection institutions. with the donation of blankets made from recycled uniforms.
Maintain the program continuously., with annual targets for recycling and reusing materials.
Transformation of 93,000 pieces of clothing., equivalent to 30 tons of fabric, in 37,000 blankets over the course of ten years.
Direct benefit to 60 institutions aimed at supporting people in situations of social vulnerability and protecting animals.
Recycling 13,000 uniforms in the most recent edition, resulting in 5,650 blankets — 4,600 in standard size e 1.050 for animal use.
Avoidance of approximately 224 m³ of textile waste. in landfills, corresponding to the volume of 47 popular cars.
Ongoing contribution to the reduction of solid waste., in line with the company's sustainability and circular economy goals.
