ABOUT IT
Abundance develops a geoprocessing and artificial intelligence platform, called Abundance.AIGEO, focused on transforming land and forests into verified digital assets, with potential for use in the carbon credit market.
The project is structured in four modules:
MapLand, which uses data from the Rural Environmental Registry (SICAR) and satellite imagery for property mapping;
AssessLand, responsible for calculating the potential for restoration, conservation, or regenerative agriculture of each area;
ValueLand, which assigns an economic value per hectare based on environmental metrics such as CO₂ sequestration and biodiversity;
Forest Dashboard, which performs real-time monitoring of forest growth and supports environmental certification processes.
The application of artificial intelligence in the system results in reduced certification costs and the time required to access the market, facilitating the participation of small and medium-sized rural landowners.
Results and Objectives
Abundance's environmental objectives include the restoration and conservation of native forests, the promotion of regenerative agriculture, and the generation of high-quality carbon removal credits.
From an economic standpoint, the platform adopts a business model based on charging an initial setup fee of US$$ 990 and an annual monitoring fee of US$$ 1 per hectare. In addition, a commission of 2TP3T is applied to carbon credit sales made to purchasing companies. Each participating property can generate, on average, approximately US$$ 10,000 in revenue, representing a potential of up to US$$ 500,000 for areas of 500 hectares.
Currently, Abundance has planted approximately 200 hectares of native forests, maintains more than 15 active projects, and has planted over 400,000 trees in the "Aurora Verde" project. The company has already recorded approximately US$300,000 in revenue, with a portfolio of over 80 companies and ongoing negotiations totaling over US$2 million in offtakes. The platform has approximately 800 registered users.
Among the expansion goals are the mapping and evaluation of 1 billion trees by 2030, increasing the number of participating landowners from 15 to 100 in the short term, and expanding operations from Minas Gerais to other regions of Brazil. For this year, the planting of an additional 100 hectares of native trees and coffee is planned, with the prospect of reaching 500 hectares by 2030. Offtake agreements aimed at expanding restored areas to approximately 20,000 hectares are also under negotiation, positioning the project among the largest underway in the country.
