ABOUT IT
The project is a partnership between Mars and IDH with the goal of supporting small calf producers in the state of Mato Grosso, promoting regenerative agriculture practices.
The program's focus is:
Reduce carbon emissions associated with livestock farming;
Increase traceability raw materials sourced from indirect suppliers;
Encourage deforestation-free supply chains;
Empowering small producers, increasing their income and integrating them into a fairer and more sustainable value chain.
The project aims to establish New standards for sustainable production in Brazilian livestock farming., with producers acting as active agents of positive change in social, environmental, and economic terms.
Results and Objectives
Reducing carbon emissions in livestock farming through the adoption of regenerative soil and pasture management techniques;
Empowering small producers in good agricultural practices, animal health, soil management and sustainability;
Increase traceability in the production chain., ensuring suppliers are free from deforestation;
To promote the preservation of native vegetation., strengthening the Cerrado and Pantanal biomes;
Improve producers' income., generating positive social impacts and strengthening the economic sustainability of the supply chain.
102 trained livestock farmers in regenerative agriculture practices;
6,832 calves mapped for traceability;
2,195 hectares of native vegetation preserved;
25,000 hectares of forest preservation areas included in the project;
Significant reduction in carbon emissions associated with livestock production;
Establishment of a sustainable supplier network and traceable.
