Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

The project was implemented in Mineral Processing and Mineral Processing Plant of Mosaic Araxá, focusing on reduction in the consumption of new water e improving water efficiency.

Main actions:

  • Better water recovery from thickeners through operational discipline e use of new reagent;

  • Control of Cyclones at the B6 Dam to reduce turbidity near the intake and prevent overflows;

  • Minimizing new water intake at dam A0, used for dilution;

  • Implementation of routine for monitoring water intake via dashboards;

  • Cultural adjustments with the team to understand the concept of Intensity and domestic policy on new water consumption.

Results and Objectives

Objectives

  • Reduce to new water intake in production processes;

  • Increase the water recirculation inside the power plant;

  • To minimize environmental impacts on natural water sources;

  • To improve water efficiency indicators and strengthen practices of circular economy.

Results

  • Reduction of 4,697,497 m³ new water intake in 2024, equivalent to 53,75% in relation to 2023;

  • Reduction of 50% in specific water consumption per ton produced. (5.04 m³/ton in 2024 vs 10.11 m³/ton in 2023);

  • Better Operational control and monitoring of water intake.;

  • Positive operational and environmental return., consolidating the culture of water reuse and efficiency.
