ABOUT IT
O CCPR's ESG project, called Seeing the Global Meaning, is a strategic initiative of CCPR System focused on the integration of practices environmental, social, economic and governance (ESG) to strengthen the sustainability of businesses and rural communities.
Within this agenda, the following was developed: MinasCoop Photovoltaic Energy, a branch of the project focused on diversification of the energy matrix and to encouragement use of low-impact renewable sources in cooperative operations.
The action was implemented in partnership with Ocemg System, as part of the program MinasCoop Energy, and resulted in the construction of a photovoltaic power plant located in Cooperative Reference Area (Arcoo), in Sete Lagoas (MG). The power plant, inaugurated in July 2023, it has 1 MW/h of installed capacity, occupies 25,000 m² and it is composed of 4,089 photovoltaic modules, producing clean energy for various units of the cooperative.
Results and Objectives
The project aims to promote energy self-sufficiency from CCPR, reduce operational costs e to contribute to the decarbonization of the milk production chain, aligning with UN Agenda 2030 and to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Main objectives:
Diversify the energy sources used by CCPR, prioritizing renewable solar energy.
To partially replace the consumption of electricity from the National Electricity System.
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen the environmental commitment of cooperatives.
To promote energy efficiency and the sustainable use of natural resources.
To allocate a portion of the generated energy to social institutions, expanding the positive community impact.
Technical and environmental results obtained:
Installed capacity: 1 MW/h, with a total generation of 3,103,950 kWh between 2023 and 2024.
Energy care: replacement 22% of CCPR's internal energy demand, benefiting 17 agricultural supply stores, seven milk cooling stations, o Head Office and herself Arcoo.
Total area: 25,000 m², with 4,089 photovoltaic modules and more than 100 tons of materials installed.
Social purpose: Part of the energy generated is donated to Immaculate Conception Hospital Complex, in Curvelo (MG), through CCPR Energy.
Estimated economic return: until five years.
Strategic partnerships: Ocemg, OCB, FGV, Embrapa and PUCPR.
