Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

The "Magnetic Waste Valorization" project aims to transform the magnetite generated in the mineral processing into an economic resource, promoting intelligent waste management and a circular economy. Currently, approximately 270,000 tons of waste are produced annually, with an accumulated stockpile of approximately 1.5 million tons.

The project includes:

  • Structuring the market for the commercialization of magnetite, allowing for the shipment of 550,000 tons per year;

  • Implementation of direct processing on the stockpile, increasing annual shipments to 780,000 tons;

  • Releasing stockpile areas for forest restoration, especially in the Atlantic Forest biome;

  • Transforming accumulated waste into economic value, reducing environmental impacts.

Results and Objectives

Objectives

  • Reduce the accumulation of mineral waste;

  • Expand the shipment of commercially traded magnetite to 780,000 tons/year;

  • Clear areas for forest restoration and environmental recovery;

  • Integrating industrial development with social and environmental responsibility;

  • Promoting a circular economy in the management of industrial waste.

Results (to date / projected)

  • Projected annual shipment: 780,000 tons of mineral tailings;

  • Significant reduction in accumulated inventory;

  • Releasing areas for the restoration of the Atlantic Forest;

  • Transforming waste into an economic and sustainable resource.
