The project Valorization of Magnetic Waste: Marketing Strategy and Accumulation Mitigation (Magnetite) its objective transforming a byproduct with no application into a source of economic value., promoting Sustainability and circular economy.
The project's magnetite is generated as a byproduct in phosphate beneficiation process in the unit of Tapira. Historically, this material was deposited in indoor areas without any reuse., generating environmental liabilities and taking up space.
With the project, it was a trade route was developed which allows sell and reuse magnetite by companies in the sector of iron ore, preventing disposal and transforming waste into marketable product, generating environmental and economic benefits.
Results and Objectives

Avoid the disposal of magnetite waste., reducing environmental liabilities;
To market and add value to by-products. from phosphate production;
Promoting a circular economy and integration between industries;
Generate additional revenue without the need for new investments;
To contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts., occupation of areas and risks associated with the storage of tailings;
Strengthening Mosaic's operational sustainability.
Results
Approximately 1 million tons of magnetite are traded annually., preventing disposal;
Transforming industrial waste into an economic input., with sustainable 100% utilization;
Project developed using internal resources., at no additional cost to the company;
Reducing environmental liabilities and mitigating the accumulation of tailings;
Strengthening the circular economy in the industrial sector;
Example of integration between mining and the iron industry., adding value to by-products that were previously discarded.
