ABOUT IT
Created in 2022, the WEG Carbon Neutral Program was born with the aim of mobilizing efforts so that the company could achieve the established GHG emission reduction targets for the entire WEG group, at a global level, covering more than 130 addresses in 40 countries.
The targets set by WEG, to reduce 52% of emissions from operations by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050, are in line with the global climate ambitions of the Paris Agreement, which aim to limit the increase in the global average temperature to 1.5°C.
In the first two years of the program, significant results have already been achieved, with the 25% reduction in emissions compared to the base year (2021), equivalent to 37,000 tons of CO2eIn addition to more than 800 GHG emission reduction projects mapped out in WEG operations globally.
Below are some examples of projects that have been implemented:
- Electrification of the Painting Line oven burner - Jaraguá do Sul
- Replacing combustion forklifts with electric ones in Brazilian operations
- Improving energy efficiency in the paint booth heating ramp - Blumenau
- Refrigerant Gas Control - Brazil
- Reduction of natural gas consumption in the exhaust system at the Foundry - Guaramirim
