Santander reached carbon neutrality, for its operations, in 2010
Net Zero Project is a commitment from the bank to net zero carbon emissions from Santander´s portfolio (including scopes 1, 2 and 3) by 2050, supporting customers in the transition to a low carbon economy.
In this sense, Santander is a signator and co-founder of the Net Zero Banking Alliance, an initiative created to zero the transition of operational and attributable GHG emissions to banks' loan and investment portfolios to align with the goal of net zero emissions. In July 2022, the bank´s emission reduction targets were published, for priority sectors according to the NZBA (power generation, oil and gas, aviation and steel), focusing on the alignment of the SCIB's global sectoral portfolio.
