Brasil Pelo Meio Ambiente

ABOUT IT

In April 2023, Microsoft Brazil and the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) launched the ClimaAdapt platform, with the mission of monitoring the Brazilian regions most susceptible to extreme natural events. With public access, the technology is intuitive and visual and gathers information that can be analyzed individually or together, by means of a heat map in the layer overlay model. The research combines specific vulnerability data from various locations, from North to South, such as soil types, slope, GDP per capita and the Human Development Index. The platform uses databases with public surveys available from organizations that work directly or indirectly with the climate change agenda.

ClimaAdapt will help define and evaluate public policies in a very visual way, providing greater clarity on the vulnerability picture, even in the most remote regions. The aim is to provide a source of information to support the planning of actions to manage and prevent risk caused by climate change, helping Brazil to meet its global commitments to sustainability and adaptation to current climatic events.

Results and Objectives

The company's expectation is that the ClimaAdapt platform will be used to help the government define and evaluate public policies in a visual way, providing greater clarity on the vulnerability picture, even in the most remote regions.

The results obtained so far are the mapping and analysis of databases with public surveys and available from organizations that work directly or indirectly with the climate change agenda.
