Basica Pro Production
Mosaic Fertilizers
ABOUT IT
Every year, the Uberaba Industrial Complex produces 80,000 tons of fluosilicic acid.
Of this volume produced, at least 50% are discarded and neutralized in the Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant, generating waste after treatment.
This process has a high operating cost due to the need to consume limestone and lime for neutralization, as well as the need to adapt the drying yard, storage space and dredging operation for this waste.
In view of this, the company has developed a new product called BaSiCa PRO, obtained by directly neutralizing fluosilicic acid with quicklime, producing added agronomic value and increasing the life cycle of natural resources.
The company uses the technical rate of limestone consumption (t limestone/m³ water discharged) at the ETEL (Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant) of UBA 3 (Uberaba Unit 03) as the basis for calculating and accounting for the reduction in gases emitted.
The project is part of a net-zero of the company, with a target of 2040.
Results and Objectives
- Significant reduction in the generation of waste from the treatment lagoons;
- Reduction of dredging operations in the treatment lagoons;
- Reducing the risk of solids being washed into nearby water resources;
- Reduced costs for the drying yard for waste from the treatment lagoons;
- Product with added agronomic value that increases the availability of nutrients such as phosphorus, calcium and silica; helps reduce aluminum toxicity and increases pH.
