Brazil for the Environment

ABOUT IT

The project replaces the iron mesh used in concrete pouring by polyethylene fibers on the access roads to the Paranaguá maritime terminal.

Problems with the traditional method:

  • The use of steel generated waste, high cost, complexity of execution and need for transportation and disposal;

Solution implemented:

  • Use of fiberglass/polyethylene for three-dimensional reinforcement of concrete;

  • Bigger durability, fire resistance and crack reduction;

  • Compatible with conventional concrete pouring equipment;

  • Reducing environmental risk and simplifying the construction process.

Results and Objectives

Objectives

  • Reduce environmental impacts related to steel;

  • Reduce transportation, installation, and disposal costs Hardware;

  • Increase efficiency and safety during the execution of the work;

  • Contribute to circular economy practices in construction.

Expected results

  • Reducing environmental risk from medium to low;

  • Simplifying the concrete pouring process and reducing metal waste.
